Austral Foundation Associates
The Austral Foundation offers the opportunity for individuals to submit proposals for financial and/or professional support to advance the Foundation’s goal: ‘To achieve productive, sustainable, and accountable advances in conservation and development.’ Successful applicants will become Austral Associates for the period of their support. Associates will be subcontracted to Austral and may apply for up to $US25,000 in support. The Associates Associates should be individuals working independently or as part of an organisation or institution who have the ability and contacts to undertake work that advances Austral’s goal. They do not need to be personally known to one of the Austral Directors but will need to provide sufficient references to assure Directors of the quality of their past work and potential to complete the project at hand. Selection and Management Process Timeframes for proposal submission and assessment will be periodically listed on the website. Typically, Austral will invite potential Associates to provide, along with a current CV, a brief (two page) concept paper, outlining their idea, demonstrating how it will further Austral’s goal and providing evidence they have the contacts, skills and ability to complete the work. Applicants with proposals considered to have sufficient potential to further Austral’s goals will be contacted by an Austral Director to discuss their concept paper. Following these discussions, Applicants may then be invited to submit a more in-depth project proposal which will then be taken to the full Austral Board for consideration. In selecting a project or initiative Austral Directors will take into account the following: • The degree to which the project is likely to advance Austral’s goal • Feasibility of the proposed approach and qualifications of the applicant • Other priorities of the Board, including, where relevant, how potential outcomes from the applicant’s proposed project can be leveraged or otherwise benefit through continued Austral support. • Support up to a maximum of $US25,000 will be considered. Applicants who are leveraging their activities, where Austral is asked to meet part, but not all costs involved may be considered more favourably than those that don’t. Project Implementation Approved Associates will be subcontracted by Austral to carry out their activity. Successful Associates will have an Austral Director assigned to monitor the implementation process for their project. A scope of work (Terms of Reference) will be developed for each Associate based on their submission, including reporting requirements. |
